It seems like this band can do no wrong. Maybe not as immediately memorable as Moongod, but still a top notch slab of melodic death, and "Sun Shield" is their best song yet!

Aquilus took a decade off and came back like he never left! Bellum I is yet another piece of beautiful melodic black metal mixed with classical and folk that makes you wanna dance naked in a forest somewhere. The natural sounding production increases the atmosphere heavily. Griseus is a monumental black metal album for me but Bellum I isn't far behind. Can't wait for II!

I missed my Avantgarde subscription, and had to re-up when I saw so many quality recent albums on the label. Argenthorns was one of my favorite discoveries last year. I expected them to find a wider audience, and I encourage you to give this album a listen. Symphonic but also fierce and aggressive, The Ravening does everything right for its genre. One of the best album covers ever as well.
